Junior System Administrator
Location: Houston, TX or Katy, TX
Job Type: Internship or Fulltime
Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in system administration and a desire to learn and grow within the company. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in IT and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure the reliability and availability of IT services.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Assist in the management of user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our IT infrastructure remains cutting-edge.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Basic understanding of system administration, including Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals) are a plus.
