Lead Appian Developer / Technical Lead
Location: Houston, TX/ Maryland, MD/Washington DC Metro  
Job Description:
 Position Overview
The Lead Appian Developer serves as the technical authority for the  client's platform, responsible for application development, system sustainment, Agile delivery, and ITSM-driven operations. This individual ensures the platform remains highly available, secure, compliant, and continuously enhanced in alignment with client's mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities
1. Appian Platform Development & Architecture
  • Design and develop Appian applications:
    • Process models, SAIL interfaces, records, and workflows
  • Lead architecture decisions aligned with Appian best practices and Data Fabric integration
  • Ensure scalable, maintainable, and upgrade-safe solutions

2. Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Support
  • Provide leadership for production support operations
  • Manage incident triage, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
  • Ensure adherence to client's SLA targets:
    • Priority 1: Response ≤2 hours, Resolution ≤8 hours
    • Priority 2–4: Per defined Government SLAs

3. ITSM & Service Delivery
  • Implement and manage ITSM processes using JIRA (Government-provided)
  • Track incidents, service requests, and enhancements
  • Ensure integration of support activities with Agile delivery

4. Agile Enhancement Delivery
  • Lead sprint-based development:
    • Sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos
  • Collaborate with Government Product Owner
  • Deliver continuous enhancements aligned to evolving regulatory needs

5. Integration & Data Management
  • Develop integrations using:
    • REST/SOAP APIs
    • External Client and third-party systems
  • Manage Appian data models and enterprise integrations

6. Platform Sustainment & Compliance
  • Support Appian upgrades, patches, and hotfixes
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Section 508 (WCAG 2.0 AA)
    • Client IT Security policies
  • Implement MFA and security controls

7. Transition & Knowledge Management
  • Lead transition-in activities from incumbent contractor
  • Ensure zero disruption to ongoing operations
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge repositories

8. Security & Clearance Requirements
  • Must obtain and maintain Public Trust (NACI clearance)
  • Comply with:
    • Client;s IT Security Policy
    • PII protection and NDA requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years Appian development experience
  • Expertise in:
    • Appian BPM, SAIL, Process Models
    • Integration technologies (REST/SOAP)
  • Experience with:
    • Agile Scrum delivery
    • ITSM platforms (JIRA, ServiceNow)
  • Strong leadership and technical guidance capability

Preferred Qualifications
  • Appian Certified Senior Developer
  • Experience supporting federal or regulatory systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud/Azure Gov Cloud)
    • DevOps / CI-CD
    • Data Fabric / enterprise integration
